About Us
The PurFlo story began in 1994 when new parents Gail and Paul Whale became concerned about TV reports linking fire retardant chemicals in foam baby mattresses with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
As word spread about the potential dangers, they began to question how safe their baby daughter Heather really was on her foam mattress. After one too many sleepless nights, Gail and Paul Whale decided to take matters into their own hands, and create their own mattress for Heather.
Their idea was to replace the conventional foam mattress with a fully permeable, fully washable, foam-free mattress. Like all parents they wanted only the best for their children, and have spent the last decade making sure the PurFlo cot mattress was just right before bringing it to market.
During this time, it also underwent extensive clinical laboratory research studies under the direction of Professor Peter Fleming CBE, Professor of Infant Health and Developmental Physiology at Bristol University and an acknowledged world leader in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
The only fully washable cot mattress in the world, the PurFlo mattress provides a genuine dust-mite free environment for babies, helping to prevent the harmful build-up of allergens which are known to aggravate childhood allergies such as asthma and eczema.
It has also been specifically designed with your baby's temperature in mind. And, thanks to the unique, permeable surface, it has been clinically proven to help regulate their body temperature more effectively than a conventional mattress when used with a sleeping bag.
Since its launch, the PurFlo cot mattress has proved to be a major hit with thousands of parents in the UK. The PurFlo range, which also includes the sleep bag, the SleepSac and a 100% organic cover sheet, is available nationwide at Mothercare and other leading stockists.
A two-year manufacturers warranty also comes as standard with the PurFlo cot mattress. If any problems do arise during this period simply contact the Customer Services team at PurFlo.
